Basket Weave Cowl

I was gifted some yarn from one friend at work who knows that I love crochet.  She has been crocheting her little butt off!  I will post about her later.  Anyway she gave me a Cherry Chip Caron Cake and I needed a one cake project.  I found this one after I told her that I would make something for her with it.  She insisted that I keep the project so I used the gift card from my grandparents to go get more yarn.  Sadly they were out of the Cherry Chip so I got ... and will be mixing the two.  I will also when done get a pink and green yarn to do the edging in.

This is a really quick project to work up and I love how it looks.  Bunny thinks it looks really cool and says it will look really good on me when I finally get it done.  He also said it was a good thing I was adding the green to it because he would have stolen it because it is pink.  I'm almost done with the first cake and will be starting the second one soon.

Changes and Updates-Personal and Blog

So I know I haven't made any blog posts lately, I'm sorry.  I have just had a lot going on in my personal life.  One being that an old friend showed up again and well I don't want to get into what is going on there as I have something I need to work out.  I'm going to ask a friend for advice with the problem.  I'm also working on teaching 3 people how to crochet.

Now part of the reason I haven't updated was because bunny said that crochet was causing a problem in our relationship.  It wasn't really but he was looking for anything to use as an excuse.  The real problem was something different and it has been dealt with.  The big reason I haven't updated was also partly because I was just buying yarn and not making anything with it.  I'm starting on projects again and plan to get caught up on some others.

Expression Fiber Art's 2016 CAL

Yep I'm starting another CAL.  This one is supposed to use a yarn from the company.  I can't justify $30 a skien of yarn.  So I will be using some yarn I have just laying around.  It's supposed to be a hat.

Mystery CAL

So as I was scrolling through the CAL group for The Crochet Crowd and was informed of this going on.  Now this was typed up before it is being posted.  I decided to save this for now because it seems like a better time to post it.  I just want to get this down now.

So I need a total of 7 balls of yarn Color A(2), Color B(2), Color C(2), Color D(1).  I have already bought the yarn and have labled them CA, CB, CC, and CD.  Now I've been looking forward to this because I found a MCAL that happened last year.  I missed out on it then and that really makes me sad.  Going to try to participate in this one.

Beary Good Friends

So I have a friend from work who saw the pictures of the panda I made and still need to finish.  I lost some limbs.  She loved it and when I told her I had enough to do two from the yarn I bought for the UNC Bear.  She quickly went and got yarn for me asking that I make two for her.  I agreed.  Now all other projects have been put off because of the big commission for another guy we work with.  I am now posting this and announcing that I have a deadline for this project.  I think it's end of next month but will need to double check with her on that.

Virus Blanket

So with the recent release of Caron Cakes I have finally started on a Virus Blanket.  As of this posting I've gotten one skien almost done.  It's very flat right now and not staying together really well.  I may also be making some for everyone in the family.  Although I might need to get more than 2 cakes to get a decent sized blanket.  The first one I'm working on I made Bunny choose the yarn because it will be in his car.  It looks really good with his car.

Mermaid Tail

Yep after being told I need to make these I finally found one pattern I like.  Guess what it's the Crochet Crowd's version.  I'm going to try and use the Bernat Blanket yarn recommended.  I need 6 balls of yarn for one for me.  If I get it done in time I can also enter it into the contest.

Update.  I hate the blanket yarn.  I am giving it to Bug later.

Octopus....Octopi....

So pretty much I am making one with yarn I bought and love!  Retail therapy.  I know bad me.  So anyway I'm making one for myself but am going to be making a bunch of them because they are easy to make.  So I'm going to make a bunch to give out randomly to people.  Probably work friends and just randomly leave them for those that need a smile.

Gloves 3

Alright so I bought the yarn for this with the jellyfish.  It's purple and was on sale.  Bunny really can't leave me unatended by the yarn isle.  This is what happens when he does.

Jelly Fish

So I have got to stop buying yarn when I'm emotional.  So this is going to go with the big commision.  This one is a free one on me.  I can't help it I have been seeing these guys all over.  So I a finially making one of my own.

Cowboy Up

My nephew is about due.  So I'm working on things for him.  I love that little Peanut!  If you haven't guessed from the title he is getting a cowboy set.  This will be a vest, boots, chaps, and a diaper cover.

Big Commision

Alright so I have a friend who is having a baby and today I talked with him and the mother about what they wanted for the baby.  So this is kind of a list of what they want and progress on it.

2 Blankets
-Whale scene with Aaron James  Name has changed to:

2 Booties
-Purple and White
-Green and Blue

3 Mittens
-New born
-Purple and White
-Green and Blue

2 Hats
-Purple and White
-Green and Blue

Basketball Onesie

2 Surprise toys(No monkeys)

This is a lot to do.  I'm going to go shopping virtually and see what I can find and maybe get some tips from some fellow crocheters on how to do the graphghans.  This is going to be fun.

Okay so I saw the person who requested this and had given him an estimate of how much it would cost for the yarn.  I didn't calculate for the taxes and did tell him that when I gave him his copy of the list.  What I calculated was about 326.50, keep in mind I rounded all prices to the nearest $.50.  So I hope to have money by Saturday/Sunday so I can go shop on Monday/Wednesday.  So that way I can get started on that stuff for him.

Also the baby's name has changed.  After I already got the graphs printed.

First yarn haul done.  Had a budget of $40 got enough to start the whale blanket and still need the correct spelling of the name.  Planning on starting the whale part and then adding the name later.

For those wondering about the payments thing at the bottom I'm just doing that so I can keep track of the payments made and what he still owes me.

---
Second haul done.  Got stuff for the hats/booties/gloves.  Again budget of $40 and he knew I was planning to get the stuff for anything but the blankets.  This is going so well.
--
So if you have been following this post you will see some items have been removed to make things more affordable for the parents.  Also as of this update we have baby!  Yes the baby is here and I still don't have anything done but I'm working on a set of booties and finishing the second glove/mitten.

Payments:
Beging Balance:  327.00
Payment:               40.00(6/25/16)
New Balance:      287.00
Payment:               40.00(8/7/16)

Corner 2 Corner Harley Davidson

Yes I'm finally giving in and starting a c2c Graphghan for the hubby in pink with the Harley Davidson logo.  Now for those who don't know hubby's dad used to ride Harleys and is where hubby and I both have received our favorite riding vests.  Last year we lost his dad.  It was a hard thing on both of us.  For him it was the loss of his dad and that family calling him a liar, a cheat, and a scoundrel.  None of this was true and the true evil in dad's life was someone he called friend.  Now for me the hard thing was watching my love go through all this and feeling completely helpless.  I had no clue how to help him with any of this.

Now I planned to make both of them blankets at some point with the Harley logo.  One in black and orange for dad and the other in black and pink or all pink for the hubby.  Well I found some pink yarn I was saving for him anyway for a special project.  I decided that I would use that yarn to start the blanket.  I have been doing a lot of research into graphghans on my own and looking for the best way to do them.  I finally settled for a stitch that I have heard works up quickly and is easy to do.  Yes the Corner 2 Corner stitch.  I started it last night and am about 13-14 rows in and only worked for maybe an hour-hour and a half.

So I know when I give it to him I'm going to have to include a pack of tissues and will probably also have a print out of this explaining why I wanted to make it for him.  So him and I will end up with matching ones...well as close to matching as a pink and green versions of the logo can match.

Above is the version of the logo I'm using to do this with and I used the graphing site that Mikey has shared with us.  So if you wish to use the same site and logo it will be a 5 page print out.  The first being the logo and thread used to create it(the site is for a cross-stitch pattern).  The next 4 pages will be the logo broken down into different sections.  I'm working from the top left down to the bottom right and am planning to add in two rows around both sides and top.

BUNNY WANTS TO LEARN!!!!!

Yes the hubby wants to learn how to crochet.  It's a happy and sad day all in one.  I don't want him to learn because he can make his own things now and not ask me to.  I'm excited to teach him though so he isn't bugging me to design patterns for his stuff.  I will be documenting his patterns though for later use and so I can make it myself.

Never mind he did a little chain and row of sc and quit.  So when I make things for him I will document my patterns I make for him.

UNC Bear

So I have a friend who is "graduating" from our community college and moving onto UNC.  Well UNC's mascot is the Bears and the colors are blue and gold.  So I went out today after going to the doctor for some minor stuff we stopped by Hobby :Lobby to get the yarn to make it for her.  So I am using a pattern from a site that I love to get my amigrumi patterns from.  I've used it for the monkey that I made for my cousin.

So as usual I love doing stuff from her.  I have the body, one arm, both ears, eye patches, tail, and muzzle done.

Virus Shawl

So I caught the virus and have started the shawl.  Got some beautiful Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable in Parrot with part of my last haul.  It was to make me feel better after my Uncle passed a couple of weeks ago.  So far loving it as I found a written pattern that comes with a graph so I can figure out how to read graphs as I work.

On Row 4 right now and will be doing updates as I work on it.  Thank god taxes are finally over and I can get back to what I love.

Feel Good Charity Challenge

So I'm doing this in two types, one is for the hospital here for babies and for a gal I know who every year does a Christmas dinner.
The hats for the hospital will be done first and the hats for the Christmas Dinner will be done throughout the year.
I've been looking for projects that would be easy and quick to "Stitch it Forward" as most put it.

American Bison

So this is a paid pattern.  Not one I was to happy with as I bought 4 of them at the same time and had to buy two of them again.  Not happy with that.  So I bought the yarn and some lighted hooks.

So with this one I have had to look up a stitch because the explanation isn't easy to read.  This stitch will drive me nuts for a while but hopefully Grandma D. will like it.  Yes I have started to label grandma's because I have two of them my in laws and my blood.

Will update more as I go.

10 Minute Booties

So this is from a pattern I found on Pintrest.  As you all know I have my peanut coming and don't know yet if it will be a boy or girl so I bought some yarn that could go either way.

Pattern to Come

This pattern didn't take 10 minutes to finish.  Even on the second bootie.

The Stitch is Right

So I'm starting the second contest of the year.  I'm sorry about lack of link because I'm posting for my phone.   This one will be based off wheel spins and I will be recording them here.

I won't be using using normal colors I will be going through my scrap yarn/stash just to use some of it up so I will just go with like for example color 4 it will bet the 4th skien I pull out.  Each day will have at least one spin but depending on how quickly I get it done I might do more.  Each spin will be dated with little areas for additional spins if needed for the extra stuff.

So here will be my thoughts as I work.  So far noticing that I've got a lot of Stitch 5.  Well I guess I know what one I will be doing and getting to know really well.  Alright off to grab yarn and get started.  Then posting my good karma.

So if you keep checking this to see what I'm doing and are wondering where I am at I have done some corrections.  I now have my final product if I have to spin multiple times marked with a star.  I have each row/spin set listed as Rows and now have a check box to help me know what ones I've finished.  Just so I can keep track of it all.  Now some colors have changed because I did go and get more yarn today and so my stash has grown a bit more.

Crocodile Stitch Glaves

I love this stitch.  I really do and I have wanted to make something with this stitch for myself and I got an interesting color of yarn.  It's called Pink Camo and it's a mix of pink and green and is so pretty.  I really love the look and it was on sale.  Makes things even better.  Okay so maybe I do have a problem.  Maybe I should start going to meetings...nah.

The Pattern
Well I'm working on the first one.  Had to frog it so far once.  I was dc ch 1 skip 1, dc ch 1 skip , when its supposed to be dc ch 1 dc ch1 in same st, skip dc ch 1 skip.  Didn't realize it undil I hit them while doing the scales.  I was like 3 scales from being done with the round...yeah.  Also really quick sorry for any spelling mistakes right now.  I need to change contacts and I've got gunk on these ones and I am waiting until bed to take them out.

Good news I have the first pair done.  Yes first pair done.  I have two more pairs to make.  One for a friend and one for mom-in-law.  Was worried about not getting the first pair back from mom-in-law.  I'm excited about them.

Baby Blankets

So I'm dedicating this post to the blankets I'm making for my niece and peanut.  So you know peanut is my unborn niece/nephew.  You will probably get random things that my niece has said about peanut.  So my niece is adorable and so sweet and is kinda the Mini Miss and that is what we will go with on here.

Mini Miss
So for this one I'm making a blanket to go with a little duck because she loves ducks.  I was trying to do the ripple blanket that came with the duck but it didn't seem to work up correctly so I frogged it and looked for a better pattern and found something I liked and am doin it.  Love the colors that she wanted.  Pink and Blue like Blue Juice blue.  She loves blue juice...well blue colored stuff.  I don't blame her because the blue ones are the best.

Just a note for myself here I want to say that it's two rows of pink two rows of dark blue with the H-5.00mm hook.

Peanut
I haven't picked a pattern for it yet.  Thankfully I have some time before this one will need to be done.  Although Mini said that mommy was pooping out an egg and that if it's a boy to give it back to the stork because she wants a baby sister.  So I asked my sister-in-law to pick the colors for the blanket for this and it's a light blue and purple.  Can't wait to see if they look good or figure out what pattern I'm using for it.

Tarot Squares 3-Double Questions

Alright so same person but two questions.  I will keep both here.  Yarn using is a mix of purples and blues, deck is the Oracle.

Question 1
The question for this one has two choices so I'm doing the spread with the same name.  Mostly a choice about schooling.  So lets see what it comes up with.  I'm being drawn to some yarn I have sitting close to me it's a blue and purple calico mix.  I think I will do both squares in this color.

The Cards: Rhiannon, Sarasvati, Mary Magdalene, Mother Mary, Kuan Yin, Ostara, and Bast.

Question 2
This question is more concerning love with three choices.  Yep again same spread name.  Funny thing is that it's pretty much the same as the two choices but you add an extra line for the third choice.  Still being drawn to the yarn from the first one and hear wispers that I should answer this one first because it has something to do with the first question.

The Cards: Yemanya, Maat, Isis, Pele, Ostara, Artemis, Sedna, Coventina, Ishtar, and Cordelia.  While shuffling Kali jumpped out.

February Mood Scarf

So I got an email about doing this for the month of February.  It sounds fun!  Details can be found under the link.  So I will just copy and paste my dates from the temp post just to save some hassle for myself and just quickly assign a color to each mood.  I will be working with a base chain of 36 and in rows of 6.

1. Pink: Optimistic, Clear Headed, Positive
2. Red: Cheerful, Relaxed, Cozy
3. Orange: Excited, Energetic, Passionate
4. Yellow: Creative, Witty, Silly
5. Green: Strong, Confident, Bold
6. Blue: Peaceful, Healthy, Content
Die Roll. Black: Calm, Balanced, Neutral

Moods:
02/01: Blue
02/02: Red
02/03: Yellow
02/04: Black (Pink)
02/05: Yellow
02/06: Red
02/07: Yellow
02/08: Pink
02/09: Red
02/10: Green
02/11: Black ()
02/12: Black ()
02/13: Black ()
02/14: Orange
02/15: Red
02/16: Black ()
02/17: Pink
02/18: Blue
02/19: Orange
02/21: Green
02/22: Pink
02/23: Orange
02/24: Blue
02/25: Black ()
02/26: Green
02/27: Orange
02/28: Blue
02/29: Red

So I've finished with my Stitch, Stop & Roll.  I really like the colors so I'm using them for the colors for this as to save myself some money.  Now I don't have black or orange so I'm subbing white for orange and black is going to be a die roll.  I only have 6 out of 7 colors hence the die roll.  So I will have numbered the colors and roll putting the replacement color in () next to black.

Bunnies! Bunnies!

So I have twin nieces who I didn't know were going to be in town.  They live in AZ and I'm in CO.  With them being in town this weekend we are having a birthday party for them and I'm making them each a bunny.  One will be pink and one will be yellow.  Same but different.

So I have one bunny done.  Working on the second one.  I feel really bad because we missed the party.  Hubby and I didn't get to sleep til about 3ish I had an alarm set for 7 so I could make the second bunny.  Well I slept through the alarm and so did hubby.  We...okay more like I got up at 5 til noon.  We missed the party.  So I will see if we can mail the bunnies to them.

So I can't give up the first bunny so I'm keeping it and will be figuring something else to make for the girls.  I couldn't help it I fell in love with him.

Tarot Granny Squares - Reading 1

So I'm doing this thing in order to use up my stash/extra yarn.  In order to get new yarn.  So I'm starting tonight with a reading for a gaia user to figure out some things about her next path in life.  I hope I can help her and get some answers.
For the reading I'm using my Vampire deck.  I did a traditional 3 card spread.  It took a while to decide on the deck to use for this one.  None of them were calling to me.  The first card drawn was Mina(reversed), second Judgement(upright), and third The Magician(upright).  The Ace of Knives(reveresed) had jumped out at the end of the reading.
To honor what I said I am hiding the results because the are for the person.  I said I would do so in the gaia shop I started this in.  I am happy to share the cards with you.  I will post the square after I make it.  4 rounds in rainbow scrap yarn.

Stitch, Stop & Roll Afghan-Challenge 1

Welcome to the post for the first challenge of the year.  Yay!  So I'm calling this a challenge because it was listed as a challenge on The Crochet Crowd website.  I was looking into doing one of these this year and found one.  So it's the first one and I'm going to share my journey with you as I work on making this beautiful afghan.

I was hoping this update would be the original post linking it to the challenge but I'm not able to find that page on the website.  So I'm going back through and searching posts to find it.  I will update later.  Alright I've searched and searched and can't fine the original post.  So I guess this isn't really a challenge any more.  Just a Crochet Along.  Wait correction I found it!  I have linked above as well and once my laundry in the washer is done I'm going to take a shower and go get my kit!

Alright I have my kit and I am working on it right now.  Currently I'm doing the starting row on each of the Motifs.  I'm using the written pattern as well as Mikey's video pattern that is linked bellow.  So far so good but it's just 18 dc around.  I'm sure it's going to get harder than again it is marked as Intermediate.

So as I have been following along with the video and pausing to do all 9 motifs.  I think it's silly but I'm doing it and pretty sure it will be easier on me in the end.  I just need to sit and do it instead of jacking around online while doing it.  So I am still keeping track of rows with my stitch counter so I know where I am and can try to figure out where to skip a head to in the video.

Well I'm thinking about changing my bag for the project because I'm running out of room in my current box/bag.  Not because of yarn but because of the actual motifs.  They are getting large.  I would say about the size of a small bag of popcorn.  I'm only on row 8 or 9 of 19.  I have 2 to finish getting caught up to the next round.  Yayness!  I hope and think I should have this done by the deadline.

Update 3/1:  Well....I failed sadly.  I wasn't able to finish it as I had hoped to.

Temperature Afghan 2016 - January

So as I was scrolling though FaceBook earlier today and again tonight I found this. It's a really cool afghan called a Temperature Afghan so I am going to do it in a Granny Square.  I am going to start it in the new year and do a round everyday.  I will buy one skeen of each color needed to make this with.  I don't care if the colors don't look good next to eachother I will stay true to it.  I will do a temp check everyday around the same time.  Now I can't make promises because I'm going to be dealing with taxseason.  It gets crazy!  All temps will be in F.
