Annie's Hook & Needle Kit Club Month 1

So I got in my e-mail an offer for a monthly knit/crochet pattern.  So because it was a good deal and I got a great discount on it for my first month I signed up.  Now I was excited to open it so I didn't do a unboxing video like I planned to.  It also came right around Christmas so I also didn't want to wait and make a video yet.  So I opened and started on it.  Next one I get I will open with you guys on the video.  This month is "Scarves!" and I am working on the crochet version of the two that it came with.

There are a total of four patterns in this two crochet and two knit all for the same scarfs.  Now I am doing one set of them now and will do the other later.  Partly because I don't have the right needles to do the knit.

Ruffled Scarf Crochet
So this one is like a spiral scarf and so far looks really cool.  I love it and not sure if I want to keep it or gift it to someone else.  It's in white so I'm not sure about it.  We will see though.

Infinity Scarf Crochet
Haven't started on this one as of this posting.  I will post again when I start working on this one.

For The Little Red Haired Girl LOVE Charlie Brown

Yes my grandma is "The Little Red Haired Girl" from the Peanuts comics.  That means that my grandpa is Charlie Brown.  It was a nick name he got in college and still goes by with the family.  The joke goes so far as that my grandma has an old sweatshirt that says "Damn you Charlie Brown!" with a pregnant Lucy.  That would be my uncle, yep that was what my grandmother got before her first baby.  Now I was just scrolling through my Facebook feed and found a pattern to this wonderful pattern.  So I will now look to see if there are any with more of the characters.  I want to do as many as I can for my grandma.

I have started on this and so far so good.  I haven't gotten much done yet I thought I lost the pattern and was happy to find it again when I looked on here.  This will be finished this year 2015 for her for her birthday the first day of 2016.  I'm also making a dress for the doll and will be making a snoopy for my grandpa.

Just an update for everyone as I finish up what I can on the head.  It defently is taking shape.  I look at it am like "Omg!  This really looks like him!  I'm glad I'm not doing this in front of grandma she would figure it out in no time."

With that said I think I should have it done by Christmas.  So I can have it wrapped for her birthday.  Although I have thought about just putting it on her chair for her birthday and just acting normal.  Then give her the dress.  So if you want to see how it's coming along check the WIPS on the face book page.

Angels for my Hope

Yes this title is got a special meaning.  My future mother-in-law loves angels and has the word hope all over her house.  She is my hope because I like her was in an abusive marriage.  Now I don't like to talk about it normally but to understand my title I want to explain some.  I haven't mentioned it before to her and I don't want to so if you find this mom thank you.  I doubt she will but I wanted that there.  She is so strong and just keeps reminding me that there is Hope after.  I have a wonderful man who has helped me a lot with dealing with it but I'm probably never going to be over it.

Mom also reminds me that I will be fine and there is hope for being able to deal with it later.  So I want to make her something that is going to make her happy and in a way tell her how thankful I am for her inspiring me.  So the pattern is a downloadable one from Ravelry and I will be trying to do it and find some other ones that I can do as well for her.

Lace Tacking-Styrofoam

Yep that is right Styrofoam.  I don't have any tacking board or even some of those fancy mats that kids can put together with letters on them.  Well I have Styrofoam though, we do a lot of mail order and my grandma loves the little collectables that get shipped together as sets.  So I have this coming out my tush.  Well I waited to get some spray starch and well was trying some things on my own.  It was still being used on the Styrofoam.  It works well with the pins and not so well with the hairspray.  Yeah I tried hair spray.  It wasn't holding the way I wanted to so I am now using the spray starch.

Butterflies

My grandpa wanted to some butterflies to go my grandma's stocking.  So I told him that I could make some because my grandma loves butterflies and has like almost all the different butterflies out there.  I told him I could make some for him.  Now because of my thumb hurting, I know I have the start of some nerve damage/carpel tunnel/tendinitis.  I like to switch between projects when my thumb starts hurting.  I try to wear a brace while working so I don't have to switch as often between projects.  I explained this to him and he was okay lets get some yarn so we picked out this really pretty purple.  Again one of her favorites.  So I will be making some different types of butterflies.

Just doing a quick read over the pattern and it says finishing to apply fabric stiffener to the butterfly.  I don't have any so I will just figure something out for it.  If you have a suggestion on how to do that with out the fabric stiffener please let me know.

Alright so this one is a PDF file that is to be downloaded from Ravelry.  This one I am having problems making.  It calls for a group of trebles.  I don't know how to group trebles and I also found a video that makes the same butterflies but seems to be easier.

Another PDF file from Ravelry.  Ah this one I haven't had a problem making.  I've made several of them.  Some for my grandma and some are going to be made in pink for mom as well.    I'm thinking in putting a couple on the bed doll.  This on also wasn't that hard to make.

Oops, forgot this one. Also this is an amigurumi type of one so that will be fun.  I have found that I enjoy doing these a lot.  Well these ones are out because of the yarn that I am using.  My grandpa picked it out because it is a really cool purple that changes purples.  So I will have to wait to make this one for a yarn that isn't so...fuzzy.  That is the best word I can use to describe it.  For those wondering its Red Heart's Boutique Unforgettable.

Crocodile Stitch Shawl

This is one from my other blog with projects that I come up with myself.  I admit I'm not great at making patterns and if you see an issue with my pattern or it's not clear please let me know.  So you might be wondering why am I not adding this to the pattern blog?  Well that is for my patterns.  If I came up with an idea for a pattern then I am posting it there and writing about my experience here.  That is just the way I do it.  Also this blog is for my experience with the projects.

So I decided I would post my pattern for this one and couldn't remember how I started it.  I also thought I screwed something up...I did so going and restarting it worked well for me.  So as I'm doing this pattern I'm typing it up and I admit I didn't type every thing because I copy and pasted some parts.  Much easier and less time consuming than typing the whole thing.  I also assume you have some idea on how to make the crocodile stitch with this pattern.  If not I will link you to the video bellow that I watched when I decided I was ready to try the stitch myself.

I have watched videos on how to do the stitch before because I enjoy just watching/listening to tutorials while I work or just playing around on my computer.  So I will add a finished picture to the original pattern and will just keep progress photos in the photo album linked bellow when I get pictures taken of it though.

Alright so I have made a few adjustments to the pattern.  Mostly repeat x#.   Well I'm really happy with the way this is turning out.  Now I want to say that I'm going to have fun trying to figure out how big it will be.
